I have been lurking around for the last few weeks before getting time to sign up and post but here is my story. I have been a long time fan of the F-Body my first was a POS 1982 Camaro V6, then sold and bought a 1978 Trans AM 6.6l, finally purchase a new 1998 Camaro SS vert.
In 2006 with first child on the way I sold the 1998 Camaro SS with 34k miles on it. (ran 13.63 @101 - Epping NH, much better then the 1978 T/A with 2:56 desert gears runing 17's)
We discussed putting in a pool and skipping the Camaro for another year or 2, This year I just finished operation back yard for the family, new pool, patio, deck, sliders, fence etc... Shortly after I completed the project my wife informed me that she was heading to CT - Foxwoods casino for the day with her mom on Sunday. Well 2 days before she was supposed to go she dropped a stack of paper work in front of me and said I tried to buy you a camaro as a surprise, but i got scared to make the purchase with out you knowing fearing it wasn't the right one. She had a copy of the window sticker, insurance binder, loan application, etc. There was no trip to the casino, the car is located in Long Island NY and she had a deposit on it. My buddy was going to go down and drive it back because it was a M6 and she can't drive a standard. To make a short story long it was the car I wanted, we headed down to bridgeport CT, took the ferry over to Long Island, the dealer picked us up and I sat in the car while she did all the paper work!!
It was pretty awesome to have her spend 2 months finding the car for me. Kinda sucked she didn't pull the whole thing off. Then again the first car she found was in CT was automatic.
The car was a slightly used 2011 2SS/RS M6 Rally Yellow with 1900 miles on it.
