I wouldn't say it was THAT bad, I mean the 3v 05-10 4.6 outperforms the previous gen 2v 99-04 4.6 with a pretty good margin. Not to mention it was the first muscle car of the group to bring back retro styling. I think they were primarialy focused on the complete redesign of exterior and interior since the primary competitor, the Camaro, wasn't making an appearance for those years to set the bar for performance.
