While the stock 5.0 is a pretty good performer and a very worthy competitor to the SS, what is amazing is how very little it takes in mods to get it to run great times. For comparison a tune, cai, and tires will put the 5.0 into the 11s without much effort. Meanwhile how many of the hundreds of cammed SSs on this forum have been able to dip into the 11s, not very many, including my past car. While I would always choose the SS over the 5.0 you can't argue the facts, if you want to go fast cheap the 5.0 is the ticket.
