I definitely know the feeling...I can't wear the stupid things for more than a few minutes either. I shattered my lower right leg and ankle 10 years ago...so now I have a titanium rod (inserted through my kneecap) and a bunch of screws holding it all together. But I still love to buy heels, put them on, walk out to the car and then I carry them around barefooted the rest of the night.
