Problem is, a diesel adds $7K to the price of the truck.
So I looked at the Fords and thought I was facing the same decision, until I saw they had a twin-turbo V6 option ($1100 up-charge) in the F150. With the max towing package, it has a towing capacity of 11,300lbs! So, it gets good gas mileage and tows like a mule.
I bought an SCT tuner for it, which added 50rwhp and over 100ft-lb of additional torque!
So, I have a truck that looks like a luxury SUV inside, but tows like a super duty beast.

i don't know why gm doesn't tell anyone this, but you can get a 6.2 gas in a half ton with the max towing package. 7300 gvw and 10,700 towing. i have one. it has wicked power and now that it's broken in, better on fuel than my 09 5.3 was.
