We learn from our mistakes and because of automobile technology today, most vehicles are generally considered safe. With all the safety regulations the government puts on automobiles manufacturers now, companies are always testing and trying new technology. A good example of change is the gas tank itself. Most, if not all, gas tanks are made of composite material (plastic if you will). What the OP was concerned about is the process that Ford went about the whole incident. It's his feelings and you gotta respect that.
