The issue with "Texting while driving" has nothing to do with Texting itself.
Most people who "text or talk on the phone" while they are driving, are ALSO driving fast, and passing people, and switching lanes at the same time.
Very few people travel at a constant speed when they drive, and then combine it with a large buffer space in front of their car.
If you have a buffer space ahead of you, and you are diligent about never following too closely to other cars, chances are you could cook eggs in your car and do tons of things, and even take a nap or type up a thesis, and you still won't hit any cars.
