Welcome to America. This drives me crazy everywhere.
As a side note, I think a lot of problems (on this forum and all others), come from the "good ol boy" group. Not to say this in a bad way, but a lot of people here were here since the beginning when the group was smaller. They all learned together, all became closer friends, and are familiar with each other. It makes it very hard for the new people to get in the crowd. That's just how people are. But every forum, for every car I've had is like that. The group gets comfortable with the group, and everyone else is kind of an outsider. Nothing "wrong" with that, it's just how it is.
I think people (and I'm included in this) forget just how stupid they actually were about this car in the beginning. They tend to forget what it's like to not know, or just how exciting their little things were. Newbie questions get answered rudely, people are harsh to someone else because they know more than someone else, and there are too many threads where members have to "whip it out" in a dispute. And then there a very select few who appear to go out of their way to sound like jerks. i try to not, but if someone tells me I sound like a jerk (and WHY) in a constructive way, I will fix it however possible.
I think this forum is ok in the grand scheme of communities. Usually the personalities will turn me off to the community quickly. With this one, I just figure out who's posts to avoid. PLUS, I try to remember that text just isn't always able to show context and inflection
