his voice? Id say his guitar is what's missing the most. and for me that's just it. yea the production will always be great but as you pointed out, his voice has taken a huge hit with the years. which wouldnt be so bad but the prices he's charging just doesn't work for me without david gilmour. too much for just what you get. I paid less for front row tickets to the clapton-winwood masterpiece of a few years back.
