Reminds me of Mag-Lite. I've had many of their great flashlights over the years, and a couple have been damaged, due to consumer negligence (not manufacturing). Sent them to Mag headquarters, to see if they could repair them: Both times, they've sent me an apology, saying that the things were damaged beyond repair... and, they sent me brand new replacements. The whole damn light... brand new. No charge. No bill. No obligation whatsoever. And they apologized for not being able to fix my old, dented, bent, piece of crap!

Zippo (lighters) also has a similar policy: You can send them any old Zippo, in ANY condition, and they will send you a new one. I have sent them many old ones, including one that spent a lot of time sitting on a freeway, and was pounded out to the size of beer coaster. They always send a new one.

Both of these are fine American companies, and I will take any opportunity that I have to spread the word, and hopefully bring them more business.
