Weight will not be an issue anymore as we have right now its going to be nearly dead even weight wise unless one comes with a special carbon fiber edition never know. There may be one that has 50lbs more or less than the other but it shouldnt hinder the cars alot. Gone will be the 100 & 200lb weight advantages. Sales wise this segment will be the most competitive it has been in years.
I've been saying the same for awhile and I agree very much. If the rumors about the Mustang losing up to a few hundred lbs off its current cars are true, then it may still have the weight advantage, even when Camaro goes Alpha...in which case the base Camaro could be at 3,400 lbs and an SS somewhere between 3,500 to 3,600.

But still, with weight like that and the kind of power numbers we are getting now days, the next gen of pony cars are going to eclipse today's standands for sure. Handling and feel should be great because of the reduction in size and weight, and straight line acceleration should be better as well...easily better if they give us engines with the same output as we have today. There would be no need to increase engine power when you have a better handling, lighter car.

Even the base cars are going to be damn quick, and I can't imagine what they would do with ZL1 and GT500-like power in a ligher car.

But first and foremost is the styling...if it doesn't look good it won't matter how it runs.

Bring on the next gens....I can't wait!
