Right, but it's not required by law, you do that on your own free will. I'm not saying that police officers should have to break it down for everyone they pull over, just that cities as a governing body really don't care. Look at Virginia. If you're a resident and get caught speeding in that state, you get slapped with over a $1,000 fine. (talk about excessive.) Where's that $1,000 going? Certainly not into the rehabilitation of the offender. After you pay the fine there's no counseling, no fliers, no photo's, no explanations for why it's a terrible thing to travel 5 mph over a limit that was set 10 mph under what's rational. It's all a big racket, cities depend on law breakers for their revenue.

There should be requirements for repeat offenders that will allow the individual to look at things differently. Show them what could potentially happen if their actions are maintained. As it stands, you get cited, pay the fine and remain p/o'd without fully understanding the real hazards. Especially since you didn't kill anyone and you've been driving them roads for years. You're average citizen isn't exposed to the daily tragedies caused by drunk drivers or reckless op. of a motor vehicle, not like a cop or county coroner is. - so show 'em

There's a wrecked car down in Kissimmee (or maybe it's Lakeland) that was put on display to make people more aware and to make them think twice about drinking & driving. That always makes me check my speed.

Yeah, like road construction. Then the cop has the nerve to ask you if you own the roads. why yes i do, matter-o-fact.
