It's not quite daily, but the other day I did make a Food Network joke:
Earlier today the Food Network officially announced that it would not be continuing with its plans to start a new charity program called the "Make a Dish" foundation. The intent of the program was to have one last meal provided by the patient's favorite chef, in hopes to spread awareness of both the illnesses themselves and foods that were easier on the digestive system for patients with terminal illness.
Many hospitals called the idea "half-baked", in that at terminal stages of many illnesses, patient's can't keep any food down at all. Quoted one nurse, "They should have stopped and let the idea simmer a while longer before presenting it like this."
Executives at the Food Network were surprised at the negative response to the program. Quoted one, "I thought the idea had been finely prepared. We'd thought we'd taken just the right amount of time, and thought that this idea would spice up the options for charities for terminal patients."
Instead, outcry over the program was nearly boiling over, with pressure rising on the TV network to can the idea before it was officially presented at a press event next week. Sources inside the network indicate that once folks have let off some steam, they'd be open to the idea of repackaging the charity and trying again at a later date.
The person below me has a unique nickname they earned as a child...
