But there will always be sports cars and heavy duty trucks. Look at the 3.6L v6... how much horse power and the mileage it gets. GM is moving in the right direction. The Obama administration just wants to push our car companies even harder in this very same direction.

California doesn't represent the entire country. The constitution is in place so that no single organization can dictate to the rest of the country. States have thier own legislature for a reason. Nothing in our government give a state to establish federal policy or standards.
Having said that. If the president choses to use the policy of a state as the federal policy then I better get to my confressman and senators and tell them that I disagree. I know CA didn't make this decision but I don't like that the current administration isn't considering what the rest of us want.
I know my sig is anti cafe. Maybe I'll change that. I do believe in the long run it can be a good thing. It seems to me we are cutting off the big three while claiming to be helping them survive. It seems like CAFE and Federal loans are pulling the big three in different directions. CAFE is costly and restrictive and we are throwing money at them to stay alive... Hard for me to grasp right now.
