I always thought CAFE stood for "Corporate Average Fuel Economy". Meaning manufactures will always be able to sell vehicles that get lower CAFE mileage so long as they can off set that by selling more cars that get BETTER CAFE mileage.

Chevrolet will be able to sell cars like the Corvette (which BTW gets great fuel mileage) and the Camaro because they just don't sell enough of them to mess with the AVERAGE.

But having said that if the new CAFE get's raised so high that only super fuel efficient cars can make/meet that standard than yes cars like the vette and camaro will be doomed.

I'm hoping the American electorate wakes up before that happens. We have an election in 2010 that can send a clear signal to our elected leaders. If we chose not to participate shame on us - we deserve what happens.
