It's about 5 cents more than premium here. It's unfortunate that those programs got canceled. I understand a lot of the reason they were canceled is because of California (which has been a major bar to the import of European diesels as well). It was just too much headwind to get an engine certified as 'clean diesel'. BMW for instance only brought one of their engines over due to cost, even though all the BMW engines use the same diesel technology.
As all the manufacturers start talking about world-tech (see Ford Fiesta and the next Focus for examples of what this looks like), you can expect to stop seeing engines discussed in terms of V8 or I6 or whatever- it will be all about the liters.
