The new Chevy SS sedan will be based on the VF, not the VE. The VE is what the Commodore/G8 was based on. The VF is a new body style that no one has seen yet except for some heavily camo'd test mules.
The car in the picture you attached is a HSV GTS E3. It came out almost a year and a half after the G8 ceased production and included quite a bit of technology not offered in the G8: Magnetic Ride Control and iQ to name two.
