Little late to this thread, but....
I grew up flying, my Dad had a C170 taildragger and we had a grass strip and hanger on the farm. I got my PPL, but I joined the Air Force as an enlisted man, so I couldn't be a pilot. I decided to do the next best thing and became a Flight Engineer. It's an awesome job, and so far I have been qualified on C-130E, H(3), "Super E", W, H model "Spectre" gunships, and currently fly the U model "Spooky" gunships. I have about 3,000 hours in C-130's, but I learn something new every time I fly. Haven't flown a Cessna in about 15 years, but I have kept an eye on private aviation and can't wait to get back into it, probably after I retire.
