Nascar has been pretty quiet about it thus far. I've looked (while watching the all star race) for info and all that seems to be said is 'here is the 2013 Nascar Fusion' and 'here is the 2013 Nascar Charger'. I can't find anything about what the specs on the new cars will be, what sort of variability the manufactures are going to be allowed, and what they're going to have to have the same between all the cars.
But based on what I've seen of the Charger & Fusion (and now the SS) I think its pretty safe to say that all the important bits will remain the same between all the cars. By that I mean the wheel base, the side profile, and other things like that. Sure, they have a different fascia & the bodywork on the side is a reminicent of the production car. But its all being grafted onto the CoT chassis. But that also means that every major exterior dimension will be almost the same between all the different race cars and those dimensions will
not be shared with the production car. This should be obvious to anyone looking at the pictures of the cars.
Now, the point that I was trying to make is that while there are some details that are different (like side bodywork) ... those details are hidden by camo on the Chevy. The only things you can see from the picture are the things that are going to be common with the Dodges, Fords, and Toyotas. Nothing that is SS specific was actually shown in the picture that GM provided. We can't tell anything about what the production car will look like from that picture, which is what I said in my first post about this.
You said that it was pretty indicitive of the production version. I don't see it, so please inform me as to what I'm missing in that picture.
