The SAGA continues.....I finally got the fuel injection unit back.............
We unpackaged it and it looked "OK" but was in no way show quality chrome by my standards. I ordered some new intake manifold gasket cause they sent me the wrong ones...go figure.
Once the new gaskets got here Saturday...Matt came over and we were going to install it and get it running.
Since I am a little cripped up right now from my surgery, Matt brought a friend with him...( Drag Racer) who know alot about performance and motors.
Initially they checked the "flatness" of the intake to see if the surface that bolts to the heads was flat/straight.......Yep you guesses it........it was not and dipped in at the runners about a 1/4" out from the middle. This would have cause a massive vacuum leak....kinda the reason I sent it back in the first place....

Then they started measuring the intake runners and the head ports........simply do not line up properly

The heas I have on this motor are Fast Burn heads and have big ports...the intake manifold has small ports.

Basically it is not made for these type heads.
At this point I simply want to get a match.......Matt and Tim say they can " Make it Work" but if anything ever went wrong then I would be stuck where I am at and would have to have it trailered home....A thought I didn't like in the least little bit.
So then they started measuring everything........this truck would have never ran like it was designed to....simply not enough air flow into the motor. Sure the motor is capable of making near 500 hp but I would be lucky to get 300..... Of course I was extremely upset...wait 3 months and still not right.
So today I called Street and Performance and basically told them this system will not work and I wanted to return it........I can not return the wiring or computer since we had modified it to work properly. They said once they get it back they will check it out to see if it has any damage and refund accordingly...whatever that means.
Matt did some checking and came up with an Intake manifold that is made for Fast Burn heads and that is fuel injected, a 1200 cfm throttle body, fuel rails, IAC sensor, TPC sensor plus the appropriate hardware to install it......
Should take a week or so to get......
The only issues I have are the new Intake manifold will not be chrome and it will look like a carburated engine with a standard type air cleaner on it. Looks like I will have to get it powder coated because of cost and time but at this point if it works properly then I will be good with that.
So they got the transmission installed, new cross member installed and all we are waiting on now is the new stuff.
One day, I promise, I will drive this truck.
