as for the OP, if its your first manual get a used car. learning to drive stick on a new car is just going to cost you a lot in the long run. If you learn a stick on a new car eventually you are going to have to get the clutch replaced (sooner rather than later). With an older car you can just run it into the ground and not worry about it. Also another thing to consider is being young enough that you are just going into college the insurance on a new mustang or camaro is going to be totally insane. Even with no tickets and no accidents you are probably looking close to at least several hundred a month just in insurance rates.
