the mustangs come straight from fords auto alliance plant. they come to you as the purchaser ready to race. including the sealed 5 liter engine. they must run the factory supplied computer, and an air intake restrictor, whereas the camaro runs no intake restriction, is allowed a bosch computer(i though that they came with bosch computers, but the rules specifiying this tell me that they're allowed to use an aftermarket one)

you can walk down to ford, order part number M-FR500-BOSSR1, and you will have a complete mustang ready to race(minus fuel, spare tires, and a professional driver of course).
on these cars, virtually the ONLY thing not built at the auto alliance plant, is the cage.
these mustangs come down the very same assembly line that your neighbors gt will come down. to a point. then it's pulled off, shipped down the road for the cage install, shipped back to the auto alliance plant, where it is assembled the rest of the way by hand.

everything i've been able to find on the camaro gs-r, is that you have to purchase it from chevy, then ship it to riley racing, and they do the race prepping on the car. that's not production.

i wish i'd have seen this post while i was still at home.....for some reason youtube won't open videos on my work computer......i'll have to wait till tonight.

i should add....i think that both the gt500, and the zl1 are amazing cars. the only things i can't like about the zl, are those stupid looking offset rectangle openings below the bumper, where the foglights are. they kill the nose of the car.
