counting calories is just an in-between step to get people to portion smaller.
you don't need to count calories if you portion smaller from the beginning.
and the 2000 or 2500 calories a day is a "good" guideline, but by that same guideline, I should weigh 160lbs at 6'1"... I haven't weighed 160 in nearly 10 years. but I'm def not out of shape. (I'll let you be the judge of that...lol)
