Because people brag about horsepower numbers not lap times in a country 4000+ miles away.... The GT500 will go down as the most powerful production Muscle Car in the world, the ZL1 will go down as the fastest around a track (at least as far as we know for now).
They are two different vehicles, the Shelby is more true to what a muscle car is, brute force that will kill you if you let it out of its cage, the ZL1 a comfortable GT car that is prone to temper tantrums but always let's you know that your the boss...
For the record both cars are awesome and could kill you but the ZL1 seems less like it wants to kill you....
