I don't understand Chevrolet anymore

Being a long time Chevy guy with the option of puting Ford in the rear view mirror, I am confused about Chevrolet's position today concerning straight line performance.
It seems everthing Chevrolet is coming out with has more to do with cornering rather than straight line. I know, the ZL1, but it too is more a track car than a drag car.
I'm still disappointed that the automatic is not offered in the highest HP engine as Mustang does.
The 2013 Mustang offers 420 HP in the automatic, an on board system that tells you your performance, even a Christmas tree for starting acceleration,
Another cool feature is you open the door at night and the pony logo is reflected onto the ground from the bottom of the mirrow until you shut the door.
What I'm saying is Chevy seems tentative and not being as bold as Ford is on appealing ideas and performance. I'd like to see the old Chevy attitude of we're number one come back with new ideas and performance to stay on top rather than reacting to what Mustang is doing.
