I beg to differ on the "There are now international laws in place to protect the workers and so on. If you arent doing a good job you dont need someone to protect your job. " My wife was let go because the new boss wanted her friend to have the position. My wife held that position for over 5 years without any bad reviews. When she tried to fight it, the Superintendant said that we live in (Texas) a "at will employment state". In other words they can let you go for any or no reason. I am in a Union and that would have never been allowed. Saying we dont need Unions now is like saying we don't need the Constitution now. If there is nothing to stand in the way of employers treating employees unfair then they will do as the want. I don't feel that Unions are always right but they DO serve a purpose.
