I laugh at the fact that we are just now getting technology in gasoline engines from the factory that has been around for over a decade in the diesel world (turbo/superchargers stock, direct injection, etc).

its been a long time coming and we still aren't all the way there yet. Electric vehicles are a stopgap solution to a long term problem. As much as I like the Volt, even it is not good enough. I'd love to see a diesel Volt...hmmm....

Agreed. I think the Cruze Diesel will be a hit when it finally gets here. My brother was looking over a 12 Passat diesel that belongs to a coworker last week and he said it was getting upwards of 47 MPG (guy travels cross country and does a lot of highway driving). Heck ya know, BMW is even coming out with a line of performance diesels!
