corvette is an odd blend. it is a composite leaf that wieghs less than coilovers. without the mag ride it suffers over rough surfaces with the mag ride though based on what the ZR-1 and Z07 does it is all about perspective.
they are some of fastest prodcution cars ever made on a track. they do have some of the best braking of any car produced though as well.
maybe it is a genuis combination??? who knows.
A live axel is never going to be a plus on the road course but at the drag strip it is IMO. So that is really a trade off depending on which you do more. An auto 2013 GT500 would be a drag racers dream. live rear axle, big power, just brace up the rear, put some spherical arms on, add some slickes hello ten seconds and consitancy all day long.
one thing I hate about my vette when drag racing is wheel hop and I am not a good enough drive to be consistant enough to braket race. It is retarded fast though for a stock car.
