The only reason the Ford GT40 was made was because Enzo Ferrari contacted Ford and told them they would be interested in selling Ferrari to Ford. Ford spent a few million in auditing Ferrari and lawyers and then Enzo backed out.
Ford's only reason for the GT40 was to beat the Ferrari on their track.
