I'm more curious about what the hell this new nameplate and new model will be. Every indication pointed to either Malibu or Impala, a completely brand new model was not expected at all.

They emulate the body lines, but they aren't the actual lines. The wheel base on those cars is still 110 inches. Before the COT they would use the factory hood, roof and deck lid. The body lines were much closer to stock...albeit a TRUE stock car hasn't existed since the 60s.
