How's the gout? The best drugs to treat the acute flare-up are colchicine (it used to be available as a generic, but now only comes as brand name Colcrys, rather expensive) and indomethacin. They are both prescription only. Once the flare is controlled, then maintenance drugs to keep uric acid levels down and prevent flares are allopurinol or Uloric. Allopurinol is dirt cheap, try that first... hope that helps, my shift is over now...
