All the women here seem to really appreciate what they are driving, know something about their cars, and really enjoy driving them. Yet so often I encounter what I experienced today.
I was on my way home from work when I spotted a black SS at the light ahead of me. I caught up with it and could see the woman driving. I wound up following her half way across town, the whole way watching to see if she noticed the Synergy in her rearview. When we came to the intersection where I had to turn, I punched it in the turn lane to get next to her before our paths diverged. Nuthin'. No wave, no nod of acknowledgement, not even a smile. Oh well. It happens.:(
Not even a quarter mile after my turn, I spot another SGM coming right towards me. It just had it's fogs on, so I shut of my DRLs and went to fogs to draw attention. I had plenty of time, so I rolled down my window, stuck my arm way out, and gave a big friendly wave and a smile as we passed each other. Once again, after all that: Nothing.
Are there really that many women out there that are completely unaffected by what they have the daily privledge to drive? Don't get me wrong; I get this from men too. But I get the feeling they are just trying to look cool by acting aloof. With the women, I get the feeling that they just don't get it.
To them it's just a car that they look good driving. It seems as if it would make no difference if they were driving a Beemer, a Miata, or a Mustang. Am I reading way too much into this? Am I way off base? Do other people experience this?
I like the camraderie of the Camaro. I like making that connection with total strangers on the road when we exchange smiles and waves. It's like "They get it. They're having fun too."
Gary, I ALWAYS wave at other Camaros... And if I happen to be next to one at a stoplight, I roll down the window and say "Hi" - even if I'm in my SUV! I've had people give me weird looks until I say "My other car is a Camaro...." You're just coming across the wrong people.
