Just happened to run across this as well. You mentioned the 2010 Mustang not being able to outperform the 4th Gen LS1s even though they cost more.

I don't think that's necessarily the best point to make. Ford really let the 4.6 hang around too long from a performance standpoint. Nobody will argue the 98/02 FBodies were faster than any GT up to '11.

But to bring up a price argument, I could make the counterpoint that 5th Gen Camaros cost more than 03/04 Cobras but still aren't as quick... Almost anytime you compare a new car, it's going to cost significantly more than an older competitor.

I'm just glad it's not 1998 anymore... 225hp GT vs 350ish hp LS1s.... Ugh...
I was shopping for the best bang for the buck when I bought my Mustang and it was the only car within my price range that looked cool, promised performance and had a V8. It did everything I asked it to do and more. 13.6s were it's best times, but that was a bunch better than some of the others.... I'm not so sure the 03-04 Cobras were faster than the 5th gen Camaros. Magazine tests show the Cobra running high 12s...and that's where a 5th gen 6m Camaro is at with a decent driver. The cost for a Cobra was $35-40K so they weren't cheaper by any means. Yep, both Chevy and Ford were really down on power in some of the austere years...I'm glad we have the new Camaro and Mustangs. Thank God for HP!
