The "new" US version is simply "finding its way". Maybe an infusion of Adam Carolla? Someone not "corporate" but knowledgeable about cars, driving, and "fun"...

Wow! I was totally thinking adam carolla.......they need a better cast for sure. But really they just needed to give America some credit and not just pick three white guys. I feel like the British guys are really good examples of what different Brits are like. Clarkson is funny and obnoxious, James May is way to intellectual but stops short of being a know it all. Hammond is just a goofball, but not a dumbass. They are extreme caricatures of British personalities. The Americans they picked have absolutely no personality in comparison. It's as if they were afraid of getting any strong personalities for the us version, making it more toned down. Part of the beauty of the uk version is seeing them not taking any of it seriously. my favorite uk moments.....
