Every hood, trunk lid, basically any body panel, all interior differences... require specific tooling... and engineering costs, and parts costs.... although the share basic underpinnings, they are completely different....
Look at the Saturn Outlook, GMC Arcadia, Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave all are unique... there is plenty of costs involved...
They did the right thing..
GMC- Work Trucks/ HD stuff
Chevrolet - Everyday working mans stuff
Buick- Mid Level Luxury
Cadillac- Luxury (hopefully they stop the rental fleets, so they can retain value)
