I am sure GM benchmarked the GT500 and the ZL1 is slightly faster. Not sure why they would produce it if it wasnt. All in all it will be a drivers race though.
I do disagree though on one point. On average with stock tires the difference will likely be even greater. The Current GT500 is far more traction limited with the stock rubber/set up. The video showed just how easy it was to break off that 12.1. It took Evan Smith and a prepped track to do something similar with the 500.
Not to mention..auto zl1 vs gt500 on the street will likely be ugly for the 500 owner.
