You probably know this but just in case... A"hammerless" revolver can be fired from inside a purse (through the side) until empty without snagging and jamming. Ladies seem to like that. Smith and Wesson 642? (due to light weight it kicks though)

Thanks for the info. Carrying is out of the question in my county here in kalifornia, I want something for at home. I think the 1911 is too big for her. Shes petite!! Not even sure she would go for it, but after the attempted breakin last year, she did ask to learn. My rule, dont touch it until you've been trained.
