In Florida we have the "no retreat" law. Once the landlord puts hands on him he had the right to defend himself with whatever force he sees fit. The fact that he chased the guy away means nothing. If you were in Florida you all could of jumped him and he would have no legal recourse. In Florida once you put hands on somone be careful. Half the guys I know would shoot you. Not gangsters, white 40+ year old businessmen are ready down here especially the bar owners.
I'm a landlord and I would never put my hands on a tenant.
