It just seems a lack of traction problems here for a car that isnt GM is automatically attributed to an inferior chassis, but when that car has traction its downplayed and attributed solely to the tires.

The S197 Mustang chassis is inferior to the Zeta II that underpins the 5thgen. There's just no other way to cut it. Zeta II is stiffer (GM's stiffest unibody, I think), and was designed for this high power ZL1 application from the beginning.
But the only two points I ever try to make is:
1) When you approach these power levels...there's a tremendous amount of torque to deal with...Mustang could use some reinforcement to help cope with structural torsion, where the Camaro just uses a strut tower brace for good measure.
2) Without Mag Ride, an IRS, or the remarkably strong body, the Mustang is easily upset on the track - which is why I mentioned the Motor Trend article. And the only reason I wanted to make that point, was because we're talking about chassis integrity....yet straight-line traction was the only thing that seemed to be considered...
