I was just about to comment on that 6" of tint from the top of the windshield. I don't know if its even that much though. But yes windows come from the factory tinted, so any tint put over that is illegal in NYS. I've ran all my vehicles with 20% and funny enough I have only ever been pulled over in my tuner cars for it.

As an LEO the law on tint is foolish, you can have your rear window/trunk totally tinted or even vinyl covered. Same with your rear passenger windows. The only windows not to be covered are the front driver and passengers. The high risk area's are the trunk & unseen rear passengers. You know someone is driving the damn car. And you know if you have tint it's just as hard to see out of it at night as it is to see in. Plus spot lights and maglights work wonders.

Anyway OP, just pay your fine lol, you got caught, take it on the chin. I'd def strip that 35 off the windshield though.
