I don't know if anyone's noticed but every car in this segment is expensive as hell. Mitsubishi just launched an EV that literally looks like a glorified golf cart and even that car is ridiculously expensive.
It will take time before the costs start coming down. The best thing GM can do right now is try to spread the overall costs throughout the lineup with the Cadillac ELR and Spark EV.
That being said, you do get what you pay for with Volt. If you're in the market for an EV-type vehicle, Volt is undeniably the most practical solution.
