I was never involved in the testing but the weight of the feeder and ammo was significant. Basically we would have to take out three seats to make room. And remove both external fuel tanks, limiting our flight time form 3 to 1.5 hours. That would give us about 30-45 seconds of fire time (i think... there was no way it was more than a minute). And for us you can't just reload. Once the feeder is empty that's it you're done until you land. But oh man did it do some damage.
The 50 Cal is cool cus it will just blow stuff down and make people run from their positions so we could get away. But the Gatling would just evaporate stuff. A few Big projectiles moving slow = knock stuff down. Thousands of little projectiles moving wicked fast = not there anymore.
