I agree in many ways with the OP. If a new member is posting about his/her car.....I'm only likely to see it and comment on it in the General Discussions thread. I NEVER visit member car journals, or off topic, etc. unless I'm looking for something specific or search and something happens to come up in that search result. However, I'm very likely to click on that thread in the General Discussion and welcome the new member or comment on their car/experience, etc.
