Did you know it take 14 hours to refuel a CNG car using a $7,000 pump in your garage? And those CNG tanks are in hundreds of PSI.
Hydrogen? Hydrogen costs far more than even bio fuels. You know the big deal everyone is making that it take more energy to make ethanol than what you can get out of it? That is nothing compared to how much it takes to get Hydrogen. Yes, you can do what BMW does and run hydrogen through an ICE, but the range is pathetic. And fuel cells? Those vehicles cost about $200,000 right now in the closest to commercial state. And those tanks? Thousands of PSI.
