I found it interesting that Dodge has finally wised up and realized that the SRT8 models were just not cutting considering thier performance numbers were compairable to SS and GT 5.0 numbers! I originally remember hearing that Dodge's intention was to make the Challenger a short run (lived) car, 1 body cycle, to try and just catch some cash on the retro muscle/pony car revival. But, considering Chrysler has invested so much time and R&D the past couple of years on the Challenger I think it may stay awhile, god willing Chrysler stays afloat as expected!

Actually the New SRT8 is quicker than the SS and 5.0 with the quickest running 12.2s STOCK so far. Their performance is right smack between the 5.0/SS and the price is much closer to a loaded 2SS or GT (which have to be basically loaded to match base SRT8 equipment levels) than the GT500/ZL1. the Supercharger option will put the SRT8 in a comparable performance level with the GT500 and ZL1, but al;so in the same pricing realm. I don't believe the SRT was suppoosed to be just a model thing, but just had a much lower sales target athan other LX cars and the Camaro and Mustang (something like 25000-30000 compared to 50000-100000 for the others.
