Turned on National Geographic.. and promptly posted this on my FB Page in a little TIL (Today I learned) post:
Wow.. today I learned that 75 year old Henry Ford (an anti-Semite) was the first foreigner awarded the "Grand Cross of the Order of the German Eagle with Star" for his donations to the Nazi party in WWII.
One of the highest if not the highest medals to be given to a foreign civilian/diplomat.
Ford also gifted Hitler $50,000 in 1937 as a birthday present. Never gonna look at that Mercury in the garage the same way again.
If it's any consolation, J. Mooney, CEO of Overseas Ops for GM did get a lesser medal from the crazy mustachioed man..
TLDR: Henry Ford himself sided with the Nazis until things turned turtle by '41. Might as well paint a swastika on that duce coupe.
