Well UCLA got there because USC is on probabtion otherwise USC would have played.
Typically conferences divide the amount of teams into two sides and you must win your side. Typically they do not have years like this one in where the two best teams usally play each other. Like in the SEC this year Alabama and LSU should have played in the SEC Championship since they are the two best teams in the SEC but since Georgia won the east division and both Alabama and LSU are in the west is how that worked out.
2009 Alabama and Florida were both undefeated and from different sides so they played......
But I remember a couple of years ago the Big 12 had a big stink of who played in their conference championship...can't remember all the details on that one though but if I remember it had to do with OU and Texas....
