I have a 4x4 pickup for my winter beater so the Camaro stays parked. I don't even take it out on nice days. My reasoning is that the poor paint can't take the sand/saltblasting of hiway driving during the winter season. They sand and salt (150,000 tons expected to be laid down this winter) the roads here and it's murder on the paint.
The one time last spring I did drive home in a freak blizzard it handled extremely well in up to six inches of wet, sloppy snow. If you can afford a set of winter tires and wheels for the Camaro you might as well go buy a beater with a heater to take the winter abuse.
