Yes, quite normal.
As being an owner of a vert myself, you can "see" the framework under the fabric top. All soft tops have this characteristic doesn't matter if it's a corvette or mustang or camaro...all the same.
The top should be smooth between the framework and the only thing that should be visible is where the cross members are.
