OP: I bet your boss has dealt with similar crazy customers and knows how you feel. You'll be fine. Just try to do everything right, ask the customer what you can do to make it right, and from now on try to get customers to demonstrate the problem before they walk out.

It may just need a new fan. My HP laptop's fan wore out after 2 years. It was a PITA, I had to completely disassemble it to get to the fan which was wedged between the motherboard and the bottom of the case...there was no access panel. I hope yours is easier.
